Pikachu Cafe in Roppongi

笑笑笑笑 go back!!

So one day I accidentally found on Twitter this information about a Pikachu cafe open in Roppongi Hills open only until the end of August (as a part of new Pokemon movie campaign) and since I am a big fan of that lovely yellow creature I really, really wanted to go and have a taste of cute meals and sweets they serve over there. I thought that, rather than going alone, it would be much more fun to take somebody with me, so I decided to ask my girl coworkers, who I occasionally hang out with in the free time, about it. Luckily for me, they said yes, and admitted they expected me to ask that question (apparently I'm a maniac in such an obvious manner?).

We decided to go to the cafe on Friday, since on that day we had a field trip to Odaiba's Legoland finishing at 2pm scheduled, so after saying bye bye to kids, we would be left with a log of free time. When Friday came, everything was going according to the plan until the moment we went to department store's toilet to change from our school uniforms into something more casual and comfortable. I left my phone on the toilet's counter and didn't realize it until the door of a train to Roppongi closed behind us. Obviously we had to go back to retrieve the phone and, fortunately for me,  nobody took it (Japan's safety- in Poland it would be gone in one minute or less).

After that there were no more obstacles on our way to Roppongi and soon we were there, heading to the Hills. There was an interesting surprise outside of the building- lots and lots of Doraemon, each with a different pose or face expression. There even were Dokodemo Door to take a photo at!

To get to the Pikachu Cafe we needed to pay entrance fee which was 1,500 jpy (since the cafe was located at the observation deck). Right behind ticket counters there was a display of cafe's sample food which was really cute. Up, at the deck, there were some attractions for kids like a 1:1 size figure of Satoshi (in American version- Ash?) with his yellow electric friend, pokemon maze, various illustrations and signs of voice actors etc.

The cafe itself was really lovely! You made your order using those meal ticket machines you see in most of ramen shops and there were three types of sets to order, the most expensive (around 1,600 jpy) of which included an ice cream float. Me and my coworkers went for a bit less expensive ones, with a choice of normal soft drink which in our case was orange juice. Two of us (including myself) ordered Pikachu curry and one a Pikachu Teriyaki burger set.

The order took some time, actually a little too much. We waited 40 minutes and when we finally decided to ask staff what's going on with our food it seemed they just forgot about the order we made. They appologized and said they'd bring it soon but took them a little while again. Oh well. In the end when the food was there we were too hungry to complain and just dug into our plates. Our sets included a dessert which was Pikachu mango pudding!

After filling our stomachs we took a break at the observation deck and the view was really nice. We could see Odaiba (again) and Tokyo tower.

After the short recess we went out of Roppongi Hills and headed to the station. Then... one of my coworkers realized she didn't have her phone with her! Where do you think it was? Yes, correct. She left it in Roppongi Hills' TOILET (and no, not on purpose at all).

What I can say about the Pikachu Cafe it that, in spite of long waiting, it was really fun and totally worth to go. The food was good and extra cute, the atmosphere nice and if I have a chance sometime until the end of August I definitely want to visit it again since I still haven't try the burger and Pikachu nikuman which both looked really tasty! So if you like Pikachu (you don't really have to be a great fun to enjoy it- my coworkers are not and they said it was great), have time and opportunity, don't hesitate to go!
